Hi guys. Keeping up with the times, well trying to. Since
iti I've
become certified in SQL Server 6.5 and 7.0 Administration, Windows
NT
4.0 Administration and now working on Implementing a Database on SQL
Server 7.0. After that I'll be 3/4 of the way to getting my MSDBA
Designation. I also have my MCT (Microsoft Certified Trainer)
status.
I'm also doing development with Sterling Commerce Gentran: Server,
an
EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) software used to receive Purchase
Orders, update an accounting system, inventory system, send ship date
notices, and invoices all electronically. And where applicable
track
electronic bank deposits towards these invoices. Yes I've been
busy.
Also did some Oracle programming with some help from uncle Jesse.

Isn't it amazing that a year can pass so fast - but isn't that what
we said at this time last year!!!
We are sure a scattered bunch and it is great to have the website to
check occasionally re the class's wherabouts. I too hear from
Sandra
and enjoy(?) the jokes - but have lost touch with Sarah and Darrin
Olmstead and Kevin Love from the last group!
As for me, I am teaching again at the Community College level (in VB
and Access so far) and doing some contract work for the Abitibi-Price
paper mill and the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor. It looks like
a
permanent position in September but I am still looking for a
good
position which allows me to learn and grow in Database especially
Oracle but they are few and far between on the Rock!
In the meantime, I have taken on the task of getting up to speed in
Web technologies while I am off right now and hope to get work in
that area using the database technologies. We recently decided
to
go looking throughout Atlantic Canada so if anyone out there has any
tips - by all means, send 'em on over.
Hope you all are well and prospering - and that IT is your way of
life now!
Take good care....

It's great to hear from you. How's everything going? I hope things
are
well with your family and your job. Everything is pretty much
the same
with me. Still learning my job pretty much. It's such a
new software
that something about changes everyday. I just try to keep on
top of
things. I just started a sort of job share. For 3 hrs a
day I work in
the tech department which is great for me, because we will be installing
Windows NT througout the call center this summer. Anyway, I have
to go
to work now. Let me know how things are going with you.
Take care

Wow...I just realized it has been a year plus a couple days.....time
flies when your having fun. It is interesting to see the new classes come
and go and I see them go through so many of the same things that our class
went through. They are getting smarter though each class (well some are
hehehehe).
Well just wanted to keep in touch and send you a little something you
might find amusing...be careful where you open it....(it's not that bad
just really funny). (THANKS SEAN! - the attachment was interesting
! - ed.)

Hi everybody!! I just thought I'd say a quick hello, since all
of your email addresses are in one spot!! I'm in Denver, CO &
loving it! I'm still with Keane and things are going pretty well.
I moved out here from Philadelphia in March (no...not because I got shot
or anything). My boyfriend got a transfer out here, so I applied
for one too. (I didn't think I would actually get it, but Keane was
very accommodating) Philly was ok...but not nearly as friendly/beautiful
as Denver. The people here are much nicer!
Well, I hope everyone is doing well...wherever you are! I'll be
sure to check out the web page to get an update on all of you.
Take Care,
Sarah

Wow,
Has it really been a year?? Hard to believe that only 12 short
months
ago we were cramming for our final tests and presentations. Well...and
drinking at the apartment with Sean and I. I am very happy to
see that
pretty much everyone is working. I have been at the Bank of Montreal
and
I am still primarily working on the mainframe with Assembler and JCL.
Though I've had a chance to dabble with Oracle, Visual Basic,
C++ and
JAVA. Since being here I have been promoted and gotten a little
raise,
so now I can almost afford to live in this crazy city. The job
is good.
I don't have to wear a tie and our flex-hours means I can go
to the
dentist in the middle of the day and no-one will yell at me.
Of course,
they don't have any Dooley's pool halls around, so I can't skip off
for a
nice cold beer and a good game of stick at lunch.
I have to agree with Troy; it's nice to get those jokes. Kinda
reminds
me of some of the stuff we used to send around in class. Those
were the
days. I hope everyone is having a blast wherever they are.
Please
forward my fond hello to whoever is not on this distribution list,
I
would really like to get in touch with as many of you as I can.
Take
care everybody...
By for now.
Barry

I did touch base with a few of the old crew around May 1st. It's
hard to believe that it's been a year. I am doing really well.
I am still working on the System Test team for IPAS (large Oracle -
Integrated
Pension Administration System) Along with that, I am System support
to a User
Acceptance Test team, updating testing databases in Access as well
as 'Test
Director', managing several testing environments, working with conversion
team,
analysts and developers. We move into Implementation August 1st
so it's pretty
exciting. I'm learing tons and very very happy.
Victoria is beautiful. I met a great guy who also happens to be
a chef. :-) I
never see Mark and Mel (they're on a different project). I was
back home for
Christmas but it looks like it will be awhile before I see the Eastern
shores
again. I've talked a little to Jess, Shelly, Kara, Abe and Mel
by email.
Always glad to hear news..........
Take care everybody,
Keep in touch
Lynn
